On June 23, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Economy and Commerce and South Korean companies EVSIS and NGS and the Korea Automobile Environment Association for a joint project to develop an electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Bishkek.
According to the ministry, the memorandum covers the following key areas of cooperation:
- Building and operation of modern charging infrastructure for electric vehicles
- Assistance in improving air quality and reducing carbon emissions in Bishkek
- Exchange of experience and information on the regulatory framework and industry trends
- Conducting information and educational campaigns to popularize environmentally friendly transport.
As part of the project, the Korean partners also plan to cooperate with the Kyrgyz State Technical University in implementing technical training and internship programs. Particular attention will be paid to interaction between industry and the academic community, which will ensure the employment of young specialists and the development of local expertise in EV charging infrastructure operation.
The project is fully aligned with the Kyrgyz government’s efforts to promote environmentally friendly modes of transport in order to reduce air pollution in the country’s growing capital city.
