Kazakhstan to launch new season of Jibek Joly train tour to Uzbekistan

Kazakhstan’s national railway company, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), has announced the launch on September 19 of a new season of its train tour, Jibek Joly (Silk Road) 5.0, connecting major cities in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

During the 6-day tour, passengers will travel along the route Almaty – Turkestan – Otrar – Samarkand – Bukhara – Tashkent – Almaty. The itinerary includes stops at some of the most iconic and culturally rich destinations of the Great Silk Road.

Tour participants will visit such architectural and historical sites as the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi and the Otyrar settlement in Turkestan, the Ark Fortress and Lyabi-Khauz Square in Bukhara, the Amir Timur Mausoleum and Registan Square in Samarkand, the Tole Bi Mausoleum and the Hazrati Imam Memorial Complex in Tashkent.

The tour package includes travel on the tourist train, a tourist program with professional guides, excursions with entrance tickets, and transfers organized by tour operators.

This will be the fifth Jibek Joly tourist train running between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. More than 1,000 tourists have enjoyed the previous editions of this tour.

The Jibek Joly tourist train project is an important step in the development of railway tourism, aimed at strengthening cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and popularizing the historical heritage of the region.
