Kazakhstan opens cultural center in China

On September 2, in Beijing, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the opening ceremony of the Cultural Center of Kazakhstan in China.

In his speech, Tokayev noted that this is a historic event reflecting the genuine respect of the Kazakh people for the Chinese people. This is also a sign of China’s friendly attitude towards Kazakhstan.

Tokayev expressed sincere gratitude to Chinese President Xi Jinping for supporting this initiative.

“The stronger the cultural and humanitarian ties are, the stronger our friendship will be. Art and culture are a golden bridge uniting different nations,” the Kazakh leader emphasized.

“Spiritual and cultural ties between the Great Steppe and Great China have never been interrupted. A very important task is to preserve and enhance them. I am convinced that the National Culture Center, designed to popularize the rich heritage and unique traditions of the Kazakh people, will play a special role in achieving this goal. The Center will also become a platform where the youth of the two countries receive advanced knowledge and exchange creative ideas,” Tokayev said.

The center includes a library and rooms for the study of the Kazakh language, music and creativity. The center’s exhibition hall contains exhibits and artifacts covering the history of Kazakhstan from the ancient Saka period to the early 20th century. The exhibition consists of five sections dedicated to archeology, jewelry, weapons, musical instruments, and ethnography. The center’s library contains about 1,000 books in Kazakh, Chinese, English, and Russian.
