Kazakhstan is launching a unique project – GeoLab Eurasia, the first internationally certified full-cycle rock analysis laboratory in Central Asia. The new scientific and industrial center will enable high-precision analysis of ore composition and quality in accordance with international standards such as NI 43-101, JORC, and ISO/IEC 17025, according to Kazakh Invest.
Establishing a modern geoanalytical base within the country is a key step toward objective assessment of mineral reserves, building reliable economic models, and attracting investments. The laboratory will significantly accelerate the reserve certification process, reduce dependence on foreign services, and enhance Kazakhstan’s competitiveness in global geology.
The project is founded by the Satpayev Institute of Geological Sciences, Kepler Group, and Chinese company Eurasia Mineral Standard, which acts as a strategic investor. The founding documents were signed in Almaty on July 23.
Director of the Satpayev Institute of Geological Sciences, Askar Syzdykov, stated: “We view this project as a long-term platform not only for rock analysis but also for joint training and exchange of best practices. It marks a historic stage where science, technology, and Kazakhstan’s development strategy converge.”
Deputy Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Sultan Kinzhekulov, emphasized: “GeoLab Eurasia represents a new level of Kazakhstan’s industrial and scientific sovereignty. Projects like this are vital not only economically but also in positioning the country as a reliable partner in global critical mineral supply chains.”
GeoLab Eurasia’s infrastructure includes two main facilities: a laboratory and educational center at the Geological Institute in Almaty equipped with modern instruments (ICP-MS, XRF, XRD), and an industrial hub outside the city with sample preparation lines and core storage. The first facility is scheduled to launch in October 2025, with the industrial site following in Q1 2026.
The launch of GeoLab Eurasia will mark a significant milestone in the development of Kazakhstan’s scientific and technological geology base, boost investor confidence, and strengthen the country’s position in the global market of strategic minerals.
