On August 18 in Astana, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Tanzila Narbayeva, the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis (parliament) of Uzbekistan.

They discussed current issues of the Kazakh-Uzbek strategic partnership and alliance in the context of the development of inter-parliamentary relations.

The Kazakh president noted that Narbayeva’s visit to Astana is a clear confirmation of the strategic relations between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

Tokayev highly appreciated her personal contribution to strengthening the bonds of friendship and good neighborliness between the two peoples.

“Your visit is very important in terms of strengthening friendly relations between our countries. We pay primary attention to the development of cooperation with fraternal Uzbekistan. We believe that this is a very important factor in ensuring stability and security in the Central Asian region. The better, closer and more productive the relations between our countries are, the calmer the situation in the region as a whole will be. As for your visit, I consider it really important in terms of strengthening inter-parliamentary ties, which are a very important element of our relations,” said Tokayev.

Narbayeva thanked Tokayev for the warm welcome and conveyed the greetings from Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

“He asked me to convey his warm greetings to you, the best wishes in implementing the tasks you set. And, of course, he asked me to convey that all the agreements reached are under his personal control. And we, of course, the entire team of the President, including the Parliament, we will all work to implement them so that there are concrete results. As you said, Kazakhstan for Uzbekistan and Uzbekistan for Kazakhstan are the closest and most reliable partners,” said the speaker of the Senate of Uzbekistan.

In conclusion of the meeting, Tokayev presented Narbayeva with the Order of Dostyk, II degree, for her efforts to deepen strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
