On April 23–24, the international gastronomic festival “99 Dishes from Aral Fish” will take place at the Karateren ethno-tourism complex, located in the Takhtakupyr district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the Uzbek Tourism Committee announced.
The event aims to widely promote the unique potential of the Aral Sea region’s gastronomic tourism on the international stage, increase the number of cultural and entertainment events in Karakalpakstan, and attract more domestic and international tourists to the region.
The festival has been held regularly since 2017. This year, around 50 professional chefs will participate, presenting the best and most distinctive fish dishes characteristic of the Aral Sea region.
Visitors will have the opportunity to observe the cooking process and taste 99 varieties of fish dishes, including fried and stewed fish, famous fish soups, and other traditional specialties. The festival will conclude with an award ceremony honoring the winners.
The festival is not only a celebration of taste but also a vivid reflection of the revitalizing nature of the Aral Sea region, its rich cultural heritage, and its traditions of hospitality.
