Deputy Chairman of the Board of Kazakh Invest national company, Madiyar Sultanbek held a meeting with the delegation of the Dutch trade mission on critical raw materials in Astana.
The mission includes leading Dutch companies and research organizations specializing in mining technologies, metallurgy, resource processing, secondary use of raw materials, and implementation of circular solutions, including Royal IHC, Witteveen+Bos, WMC Energy, Nijhuis Saur Industries, and others. The parties discussed prospects for developing projects in the extraction and processing of lithium, cobalt, nickel, and rare earth elements — key resources for green energy and battery production.
Sultanbek noted that Kazakhstan possesses significant reserves of critical materials and is interested in attracting advanced technologies and investments for their deep processing. He emphasized that the development of partnership with the Netherlands will help strengthen the resilience of supply chains, stimulate innovation, and open new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
Representatives of the Dutch mission emphasized that they view Kazakhstan as a strategic partner in ensuring reliable access to raw materials for European industry and expressed readiness to work together on specific projects.
Kazakhstan and the Netherlands maintain long-standing partnership relations. The Netherlands is the largest investor in Kazakhstan’s economy: over the years of independence, more than USD 120 billion has been invested. Cooperation in the field of critical raw materials is a new area reflecting the shared interest in developing a green economy and sustainable supply chains.
