Central Asian countries and India set to expand cooperation

The 4th Ministerial Meeting of the Central Asia–India Dialogue was held in New Delhi on June 6.

The meeting focused on main areas of partnership between the Central Asian countries and India, covering such fields as transport and logistics, regional cooperation, counter-terrorism, and the development of advanced technologies.

The foreign ministers adopted a Joint Statement reaffirming their shared commitment to deepening multilateral cooperation within the Central Asia–India format.

The foreign ministers of the Central Asian countries also met with the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. The parties addressed issues related to bilateral and multilateral cooperation aimed at further strengthening the strategic partnership. The main focus was placed on expanding political dialogue, enhancing economic relations, advancing joint initiatives within multilateral frameworks, and deepening collaboration within the framework of the Central Asia–India Dialogue.

In his remarks at the Ministerial Meeting, Deputy Prime Minister–Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu underscored the importance of transport connectivity for the sustainable economic growth of the countries, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported. Kazakhstan is actively developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, which enables safe and efficient cargo transportation from Asia to Europe. The minister invited Indian companies to participate in the implementation of major projects aimed at further expanding the route’s capacity.

On June 5, the Central Asia–India Business Council was held in New Delhi, reaffirming the shared commitment to deepening multilateral partnership and creating new growth points amid the global transformation of the world economy.

In his speech, the Kazakh Foreign Minister focused on transport and logistical connectivity. He emphasized the importance of developing international corridors, particularly the North–South route and the Middle Corridor, and invited the Indian side to participate in joint infrastructure projects, including multimodal routes, fiber-optic lines, and regional energy grids.

Kazakhstan also expressed its readiness to become a reliable supplier of strategic resources, including energy resources, rare earth metals, and agricultural products within the framework of India’s Viksit Bharat (Developed India) initiative.

In conclusion, the Kazakh side proposed to host the next session of the Council in Kazakhstan.
