The Innovative Center for the Development of Unmanned Aviation has officially opened at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) in Almaty.
The project is a collaboration between KazNU and Aerial Solutions LLP.
The new center will focus on domestic development and production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), establish training and production laboratories and a test site, and implement dual education and certification programs. KazNU students and faculty will participate in research and development, as well as in the manufacturing of UAVs.
The center will also work to introduce its drones to domestic and international markets and support and commercialize innovative startups. The project is expected to support the implementation of Kazakhstan’s strategy for the development of civil unmanned aviation.
At the opening ceremony, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Chairman of the Board and Rector of KazNU, noted that the launch of the center is a historic event for Kazakhstan’s technological development. “The center provides ample opportunities for implementing large-scale research projects, creating and assembling modern drones, training qualified specialists, and providing internships for students. The drones created here will be effectively used in various sectors of the economy,” the rector said.
Perizat Kudaibergenova, General Director of Aerial Solutions, emphasized the significance of the new center: “The establishment of the Innovative Center for the Development of Unmanned Aviation at KazNU has united science, education, and modern unmanned technologies to train specialists according to international standards. This initiative opens new horizons for young professionals and makes a significant contribution to the advancement of domestic aviation projects globally.”
