Afghanistan’s trade grows in 2025

In 2025, Afghanistan’s foreign trade significantly increased compared to the previous year, despite challenges and restrictions on trade routes, TOLOnews reported.

According to the country’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the total value of Afghanistan’s exports and imports reached $13.932 billion, including $1.807 billion in exports and $12.125 billion in imports.

Akhundzada Abdulsalam Jawad, spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, said: “Most exports were made to India, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, the United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, Iran, Turkey, China, Iraq, and Tajikistan. The main export items from Afghanistan included figs, raisins, asafoetida and its seeds, coal, cotton, pine nuts, pistachios, almonds, saffron, dried apricots, cumin, apples, grapes, tomatoes, mung beans, energy drinks, mineral stones, carpets and rugs, black pine nuts, and pomegranates.”

According to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, most of Afghanistan’s imports came from Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, China, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, and India. These imports included vehicle parts and machinery, diesel and petrol fuel, flour and wheat, electrical machinery and equipment, natural gas, cotton textiles, cement, pharmaceutical medicines, and food products.
