Jibek Joly tourist train will connect Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan

From March 20 to 25, 2026, the international tourist train Jibek Joly will connect Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan as part of a single cultural and educational route. For the first time in the project’s history, the route has been extended to Dushanbe, according to Kazakhstan’s national railway company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ).

The journey will pass through the key cities of the Great Silk Road: Almaty – Turkestan – Samarkand – Dushanbe – Tashkent – Almaty, connecting spiritual centers, ancient cities, and modern capitals of Central Asia.

The tour package includes travel on the tourist train, a tour program with professional guides, excursions with entrance tickets, and transfers organized by tour operators. The project is particularly significant due to its timing during the Nauryz celebrations—a time of renewal, spiritual cleansing, and strengthening of cultural ties. Participants will have the opportunity to experience the festive traditions of the peoples of Central Asia along the route.

The train tour was organized by KTZ with the assistance of Uzbekistan Railways and the Association of Self-Regulatory Organizations “Kazakhstan Tourism Industry.” The launch of the extended Jibek Joly train tour is an important step in the development of rail tourism, contributing to the strengthening of cultural ties between Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, as well as the popularization of the region’s historical heritage.
