Chinese company to implement $500 million chrome processing project in Kazakhstan

An investment project for deep chrome processing will be implemented in Kazakhstan’s Aktobe region. The project is aimed at developing a chemical and metallurgical cluster and forming new production facilities with high added value, according to Kazakh Invest national company.

The project, implemented by Sichuan YinHe Chemical Co. Ltd., one of the world’s largest players in chrome processing, will build a modern production complex for deep processing of chrome-containing raw materials with the output of fertilizers, chemical products, metallurgical components, and biologically active additives. The planned capacity of the enterprise will amount to up to 200,000 tons of products per year. The projected annual output volume is estimated at approximately USD 1 billion, while the value of certain types of products may reach up to USD 300,000 per ton. The total investment volume is estimated at around USD 500 million, with the potential to create more than 600 jobs.

Commenting on the signing of the agreement, Kazakh Invest Chairman Sultangali Kinzhakulov noted: “During a systematic analysis of the investment potential of Aktobe Region, the chrome and chemical-metallurgical industry was identified as a priority area, taking into account the region’s resource base, export potential, and opportunities to form a full production cycle. Implementation of the project will significantly expand the depth of raw material processing and reduce exports of raw semi-finished products.”

The project is expected to strengthen Kazakhstan’s position in the global market for deep chrome processing products.
