In 2026, KazMunayGas-Aero LLP, an aviation fuel supply subdivision of national oil and gas company KazMunayGas, has begun “into plane” aircraft refueling at airports in Almaty and Astana.
The Ministry of Transport has provided KazMunayGas-Aero with direct access to the infrastructure of Kazakhstan’s airports, including regional ones. The company plans to increase the scope of direct refueling for airlines without intermediaries, with further reduction in the price of aviation fuel expected in the future.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the initiative has lowered aviation fuel prices at Kazakhstan’s airports, which now do not exceed $1,000 per ton. Turkish Airlines, Fly Dubai, Air Cairo, Somon Air, AJet, Pegasus Airlines, Red Sea Airlines, One Air, Hungary Airlines, and Fly Meta are already refueling at the new price.
Today, in countries where Kazakhstani airlines operate, fuel prices range from $1,200 to $1,300 per ton.
The new refueling mechanism was introduced on the instructions of the Kazakh President to develop international air hubs in Kazakhstan and ensure stable supplies of affordable jet fuel.
This measure is expected to strengthen the Kazakh aviation industry’s leading position in the region and boost the country’s transit potential.
Today, the “open skies” regime is in effect at 17 airports in Kazakhstan, lifting restrictions on the number of flights and destinations. The regime also grants foreign airlines the right to fly to Kazakhstan using the fifth freedom of the air.
