Kazakhstan and China launch microsatellite for scientific research

The “Kazakhstan-China” microsatellite, jointly developed by Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) and China’s Northwestern Polytechnical University, successfully entered orbit at an altitude of 530 km on December 13, according to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

This scientific research satellite was launched into orbit by Ziwei Aerospace, using Kuaizhou-11 launch vehicle.

In 2024, KazNU and Northwestern Polytechnical University signed a cooperation agreement to conduct joint research using a microsatellite.

The satellite has four key advantages: high cost-effectiveness thanks to the use of commercial components and innovative design; high stability and pointing accuracy; high computing power; and high responsiveness for rapid data transmission to Earth.

The project was implemented by a joint team including over 20 specialists and young researchers from China and Kazakhstan.

This collaboration opens new opportunities for space exploration, training qualified specialists, and developing joint satellites. The project also enables remote sensing of Earth using the microsatellite.
