On October 21, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the IT Park in Mirzo Ulugbek district of the capital and took part in the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the project’s second phase.
Two years ago, as part of the first phase, implemented through investments totaling $200 million, six office buildings ranging from 20 to 25 stories and a modern congress hall were constructed on an area of about 4 hectares.
The IT Park offers all the necessary conditions for specialists and for supporting promising startups. It hosts incubation and acceleration programs, and successful projects are being implemented in information technology, fintech, logistics, e-commerce, online education, biotechnology, and other fields.
Currently, the number of IT Park residents has reached 3,200 companies employing more than 14,000 specialists. Last year, the total volume of services provided by resident companies amounted to $1.6 billion, and by the end of this year, this figure is expected to exceed $2.5 billion.
The volume of service exports is expected to exceed the $1 billion mark for the first time.
According to the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy, it is planned to provide more than 300,000 young people with high-paying jobs in the field of information technology. Foreign experts estimate Uzbekistan’s potential in the field of artificial intelligence alone at $10 billion.
“I am confident that this major initiative, the launch of which we are giving today, will make a significant contribution to achieving the ambitious goals set and to strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and foreign investors,” the president said.
Under the project, the area of the IT Park will be expanded by 1.5 times. In partnership with Saudi Arabia’s company Data Volt, a data center with a capacity of 12 megawatts and a value of $150 million will be built here. In the subsequent phases, it is planned to invest an additional $3 billion and increase the total capacity to 500 megawatts.
In addition, six buildings will be constructed on this site, including an Artificial Intelligence Center, a Center for Space and Future Technologies, two 20-story office buildings, as well as service and shopping centers.
