On October 8, Aidar Abildabekov, Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, met with Khurram Teshabayev, Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan.
It was noted at the meeting that Uzbekistan remains one of Kazakhstan’s priority trading partners in Central Asia. The two countries are consistently working to achieve the mutual trade target of $10 billion. From January to August 2025, bilateral trade turnover reached $3 billion, an 18.5% increase compared to the same period last year. Kazakhstan’s exports to Uzbekistan amounted to $2.2 billion, an increase of 26.7%.
The meeting discussed expanding exports of Kazakhstani high-value-added products, including in the metallurgy, petrochemicals, mechanical engineering, and agro-industrial complex.
Uzbekistan has been offered a list of 40 promising types of products worth over $550 million.
“Bilateral trade in the agro-industrial sector is growing. In the first eight months of 2025, agricultural trade increased by 27.6%, reaching $1.3 billion. Exports of Kazakhstani grain, flour, meat, sugar, and other goods are growing steadily,” noted Vice Minister Abildabekov.
The construction of the International Industrial Cooperation Center “Central Asia” is currently underway on the Kazakh-Uzbek border. The project is a strategic initiative of the two countries in industrial cooperation and aims to create a common production and logistics platform.
The Kazakh side also supports the initiative to create a Joint Logistics Strategy, including the development of transit routes through Afghanistan.
