The Fund for Digital Initiatives of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB FDI) has issued a grant to Kompas JSC to implement traffic simulation software in Kazakhstan.
The project aims to ensure the sustainable development of the urban environment in Astana, the country’s capital characterized by the steady increase in population.
Traffic simulation allows using computational models to reproduce the real situation on the road, analyze passenger flows and optimize the development of urban infrastructure.
The software product will provide an opportunity for forecasting and applying scenario analyses to cope with a wide range of tasks, such as: planning public transportation routes; making decisions on the amount, timing and order of urban construction; identifying repairs, calculating the route and schedule of harvesting equipment; identifying facts of misuse of non-residential facilities; optimizing the location of retail facilities, and much more.
The introduction of new technologies is expected to improve the quality of transportation services used by over 500,000 people.
In addition, executive authorities, quasi-governmental organizations, design institutes and universities will be able to use the new software. Thus, the project will be an important step in the digitalization of urban planning and transport planning in the country.
Key objectives of the project:
1. Accelerating the digital transformation of public administration processes.
2. Developing software for the simulation of urban construction, traffic flows and infrastructure development in Kazakhstan. Creating a transport macro-simulation model of Astana city.
3. Obtaining the integration effect. Kazakhstan will make use of Russia’s experience and technologies that are planned to be fully localized in the country.
